Springdales School, Pusa Road inaugurated their annual Book Week on 19th July 2022, for the students from Nursery to Std XII. With the theme for this year “Creating a diverse school for the emerging world: Challenges and Opportunities” it is aimed to encourage students to reflect on the challenges and turn them into opportunities with their creative thought. Various workshops and activities would be planned during the entire week emphasizing the ideas of adaptability and imaginative capabilities of the school system, educator and the learner for the changing times.
The Principal, Dr. Mala Gupta inaugurated the book week by lighting the lamp and the opening of the book of knowledge as the choir rendered a soulful invocation. In her welcome address she inspired and motivated students to use practical solutions to adapt to the emerging times. She also introduced the chief guest and keynote speaker Ms. Enakshi Ganguly, co-founder of HAQ - a center for child rights and an activist for rights of women, children and tribals. Springdales School, Pusa Road observed the Mandela Day to commemorate the 104th birth anniversary of Dr. Nelson Mandela on the 18th of July, 2022. The celebration was a culmination of a series of week-long activities marking the ties between India and Africa. The valedictory function was presided over by Mr. Cedrick C. Crowley, Deputy High Commissioner, Minister Plenipotentiary, South African High Commission; Mrs. Lara Swart, Counsellor, Political, South African High Commission; Mr. TSiory, Counsellor, Embassy of Republic of Madagascar; Mr. D.K. Pandey, Principal, N.C. Jindal Public School and dignitaries from the African High Commission.
As a school, Springdales has always been committed to the ideal of internationalism and fostered the Indo-African ties through various programmes and competitions.
Principal, Dr. Mala Gupta, extended a warm welcome to the guests and also initiated the lamp-lighting for peace and harmony across the globe. She emphasized on the need for the youth to carry on Mandela’s legacy and contribute towards the humanitarian causes to make the world a better one for all.
The choir mesmerized the audience with the medley of two African songs- Jambo bwana and Siyahamba which was followed by a dance presentation by the students of the senior school.
The high point of the programme was a soul stirring dramatic presentation by the students, entitled “Mandela- From Prisoner to President ”, honouring the life journey of Mandela and his ideologies.
Mr. Cedrick C. Crowley addressed the gathering and encouraged the students to strive for excellence in their chosen fields and take inspiration from the lives of Gandhi and Madiba.
He applauded and appreciated the Principal and the school for their continuous endeavor in building Africa-India relationships. For event gallery Click here
A joyful and fun-filled summer camp was organised by the sports and visual & performing art teachers for the students of std. 6 to 9. Creative experiential and reflection engaged the students from 17th - 27th May, 2022.
