French Orientation Programme

On 12th July’2023, a ‘French Orientation Programme’ was organised in the Hall of Celebration (HOC) and was addressed by an esteemed academician Prof. Yakshita Arora from Alliance Française De Delhi. Students from Std VIII to XI who have pursued French as their third language attended the session. The parents of the students from 9th to 11th also joined the informative session.

The session enlightened the audience about the plethora of opportunities that the students can get by pursuing French Language at a higher level in school, after which they can pursue it through alliance Française De Delhi. Prof. Yakshita Arora also shared her journey at AMICIF – a cultural exchange programme in France and her experience and learning while living with a French family.

The session motivated the students to avail the opportunity of taking French at Senior Secondary level, as an elective subject. For event gallery Click here

54th ANNUAL GOWARDHAN DASS DECLAMATION COMPETITION

The 54th Annual Gowardhan Dass Declamation contest was hosted by Springdales School, Pusa Road on Saturday, 6 May 2023. The contest started in the year 1967 in the memory of Mr. Gowardhan Dass, the founder Chairman of Springdales Education Society. A fine orator, he was vitally interested in all socio, economic and political problems faced by the society.

Dr. Mala Gupta, Principal, Springdales School welcomed the participants from various leading schools of Delhi and NCR. In her address she stressed on the importance of developing communication skills and a genuine concern and sensitivity towards the world and its problems. Through her speech she motivated the young minds by saying that this world belonged to them and the contest reiterates the force of the youth- their friendship and commitment to new endeavours.

Few of the thought-provoking topics ranged from: Biggest threat to humanity- climate change or war?, Has India lost its claim to secularism? to Social Networking site- a disruptive force or a tool for social good

The contest was presided over by Prof Nirmalya Samanta, an Old Springdalian and Associate Professor of English, Delhi University. The esteemed panel of judges included Ms. Tisha Srivastav, HOD Media Studies at Ashoka University, Ms. Seema Chishti, Editor, The Wire and Dr. Chandrachur Singh, Associate professor of Political Science, Delhi University.

The first position was bagged by Springdales Dhaula Kuan, and the best speaker award was given to Gauri Manchanda of Springdales School Pusa Road. The host school did not compete for the Gowardhan Dass rolling trophy. For event gallery Click here

Stress Management Workshop at Springdales Pusa

Springdales School Pusa Road in collaboration with Centre of Excellence hosted 70 teachers from leading schools across Delhi and NCR for a Capacity Building Workshop on 29th April 2023. The program began with lamp lighting with faith invocation by the school choir.

The captivating and enriching workshop on Stress Management provided an opportunity for educators from different areas of specialization to interact with each other and share their experiences. Dr. Mala Gupta, Principal, Springdales School welcomed the Resource persons Ms. Mamta Sabharwal, Headmistress Darshan Academy and Ms. Aruna Sivaraj, HOD, Himalaya Public Senior Secondary School along with the participating teachers.

Ms. Sivaraj and Ms. Sabharwal involved the audience in a series of hands-on activities creating a lively and enthused atmosphere. The speakers through the various activities facilitated the teachers to identify some common causes of stress at home and work-place. They also presented the ways and measures to cope with stress and overcome it.

Ms. A. Sivaraj initiated the session with introduction in the form of an ice-breaker. She made the teachers reflect on the major stresses they encountered and distinguished between distress and eustress.
In the subsequent sessions, the Resource persons emphasized on the need to identify individual stresses and mechanisms like practicing gratitude, open communication, journaling, engaging in a hobby to cope with them

The participating teachers brought out their creative streak by writing poems, singing songs and dancing to learn and experience stress management strategies. The day long reflective and interactive workshop was a valuable learning experience. For event gallery Click here

Observing International Labor Day - Cleanliness Drive

The School organised a cleanliness drive to observe International Labor Day on 1st of May, 2023. Students, as part of the UN Club sensitised different classes about the need and importance of care givers and workers.

The cleanliness drive was organised in two areas- Students from standard Xth went to the backfield and cleaned the area while students from standard XIth -XIIth went to senior wing classrooms and helped clean the classroom furniture.

Shri I.P. Kapoor Memorial Football Tournament

The 11th Shri I.P. Kapoor memorial football tournament was held at Springdales School, Pusa Road on 13th April, 2023 to commemorate the dedicated services of Shri I. P. Kapoor, who served in the institution as a physical education teacher for 35 years. His sincerity and commitment both towards the school and sports were exemplary for teachers and students. Release of colourful balloons in this year’s tournament marked the centenary birth year of our founder Principal Late Padmashri Dr Rajni Kumar. Her presence and zeal were deeply missed during the thrilling match.

It was an inter-unit match between the teams of Springdales, Pusa Road and Springdales, Dhaula Kuan to inculcate in students the team-spirit and sportsmanship.

Principal, Dr. Mala Gupta along with family of Shri I.P Kapoor and members of the managing board offered floral tributes to Late Shri I.P. Kapoor. In her welcome address, Dr. Gupta encouraged the participating teams and wished the players good luck. She also stressed upon fair play and competitive spirit which are vital on the sports field.

The two teams played with a lot of zeal and put up a tough fight. They were cheered by the audience for their delightful and enthralling game.
At the end of the match both teams stood at an equal score of 1 goal, but Springdales School, Pusa Road emerged winner during the penalty shootouts. The best player of the match was awarded to Anupam Rastogi of Springdales Pusa. For event gallery Click here

Annual Athletic Meet 2023

Springdales School, Pusa Road held their Annual Athletic Meet on 17th February 2023. Students from Class VI-XII participated in various athletic events and drill displays. The meet was declared open by the chief guest Mr. Bhanu Sachdeva, Arjuna Awardee- Swimming.

The Principal, Dr. Mala Gupta along with the chief guest witnessed the march past from the saluting base. The squads comprising of National and State Players, school prefects and the eight houses were led by their captains. The synchronized display of drills using dazzling hooplas, umbrellas and colourful drapes left the audiences spell bound. The programme culminated in a finale where the students stood in unison upholding the spirit of sportsmanship.

Col. Kulmeet Singh Kataria, Lt. Col Nagender Sharma and Lt. Col Bibek Chakroburty judged the marching squads.

The chief guest, Mr. Bhanu Sachdeva, spoke of the importance of sports personal fitness through games and athletics. Sharing his own experiences with the students he motivated the budding sports enthusiasts. Top athletes were honored with awards and the house trophy was won by Unity House. The Divakar Sinha rolling trophy for the outstanding athlete of the year instituted by Dr. Swati Pal, Principal of Janki Devi College and Mr. Uttam Kumar Sinha in the memory of their son, an old student of the school was awarded to Niroy Chadha of std XI.

CITATION CEREMONY FOR BATCH OF 2022-23

The citation ceremony at Springdales School, Pusa Road was held on the 10th February 2023. The solemn event is organised every year to bid adieu to the outgoing batch of standard XII and wish them luck for their future endeavours.

In her address to the students and parents, Principal, Dr. Mala Gupta, expressed her firm belief in the preparedness of the outgoing batch to face challenges with conviction and confidence emerging stronger from the experiences of the pandemic.

As a learning for the outgoing batch she emphasised on the importance of elevating our thoughts above extreme self-indulgence, shifting them towards the wellbeing of all and aligning ourselves to the positive energies of the universe that does not favour the greedy and the dishonest but the truthful, the magnanimous and the virtuous.

The chief guest for the occasion, Dr. Himanshu Gupta, IAS and Director (Education), Directorate of Education emphasised on the important virtues of life such as humanity and hard work. He urged the students to utilise the power of education to change the future of the country. He also spoke about the importance of innovative and constructive thought in empowering youth as the harbingers of change for a better tomorrow.
The students and their parents from the outgoing batch talked about the association they had with their alma mater and shared their cherished memories.

SPRINGDALES SCHOOL BID ADIEU TO THE OUTGOING BATCH OF 2022-23

Springdales School bid adieu to the outgoing batch of 2022-23 amidst gala festive celebrations with peppy and uplifting songs-dances by std XI at the evening farewell on 6th Feb 2023. The event saw the crowing of Sailesh Arora and Anvita Bakshi of class XII as Mr and Ms Springdales. Principal Dr Mala Gupta and senior staff attended the event. For event gallery Click here
